HIDEAWAY

In the heart of the Brecon Beacons

Explore

The Brecon Beacons National Park is a jewel in the crown of the UK's protected landscapes. It boasts some of the most most spectacular upland formations in southern Britain, yet still remains one of the UK's best kept secrets. The Park takes its name from the shapely peaks at its centre with Pen-y-Fan rising to 886m. Old Red Sandstone forms a backbone of high ground across the Park cut by broad and fertile Usk Valley. Confusingly there are Black Mountains in the east and Black Mountain west of the Fforest Fawr, once a royal hunting ground. Along the southern edge of the park narrow bands of carboniferous limestone and millstone grit produce dramatically different scenery with remarkable cave systems and fine waterfalls….. View >>

A warm welcome awaits you at Herdmans Hideaway, self-catering holiday accommodation deep in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, 1000ft (300)m above sea level, with 360 degree views of the Brecon Beacons.  You are sure of a restful stay in this picturesque Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The owners Nick & Jane Herdman live on the farm about 400 yards away from the Hideaway. Nick & Jane also run a small but busy B&B at the farm house and love welcoming guests from all over the world to their home and have been fortunate to meet some truly lovely people, the B&B has been a huge success and with this in mind they decided to turn a property on the farm into a holiday let which opened in March 2018.

We are 2 miles away from Brecon town, the roads to the property are narrow country lanes so it's advisable to travel with care. Brecon is a bustling little place offering a good selection of restaurants, pubs and shops. A good bus service travels to all the major links. The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal is one of the prettiest in the country and you can hire a boat there for the day, the tow path forms part of the Taff Trail. There is a beautiful cathedral in town with a fabulous tea room in its grounds. We have a military museum where you can learn all about the battle of Rorkes Drift. For the children a visit to Cantref Adventure Farm is a real treat. The Brecon Beacons offers some of the best walking and hiking in Britain and the highest peak Pen-y-Fan can be reached on foot from the end of our farm lane in under 2.5 hours.

We also run a small but busy B&B at the farm house and love welcoming guests from all over the world.
